Conditions of Booking

A $300 security bond per boat is required that will be returned at the end of visit pending no damage to boat or equipment. This is to be paid in cash. Skipper of each vessel must meet the requirements and read, understand and accept all boat and safety rules.

Your host will stay in a separate room in the hut and will be available 24 hours a day for any assistance you may need.

Boat and Safety Rules

  1. Nominated skipper must be over 21 years of age, have a current boat licence and be physically able and competent to operate the vessel.
  2. Skipper is responsible for the safety of all persons on boat.
  3. Skipper must ensure all persons on board are wearing the inflatable pfd150 life jackets provided.
  4. Skipper is to wear engine kill switch lanyard on wrist when motor is in gear.
  5. Maximum of 6 knots (11km/h) along rock wall and within 25m of other boats.
  6. Boats are only to be operated in daylight hours.
  7. Boat range limit is from Bomber creek to the west, Giffords creek to the east and 2nm (3.7km) out to the north from the mouth of Barrattas. On days when wind is predicted to be over 20kn, mouth of Barrattas will be the limit. These areas are shown on boats GPS map and also on laminated map with safe operations manual.
  8. Be croc wise. Keep arms and legs inside boat, do not enter the water and keep distance from crocs when spotted as they can attack when threatened if you are too close.
  9. Skipper must abide by QLD law with blood alcohol limit of 0.05 and not be under the influence of drugs.
  10. Sandbars can be a hazard at all tides here if unfamiliar with the area especially low tide. Laminated maps are provided in the lockbox in front starboard compartment for a general idea of where the sandbars and shallow water may be. Take it easy at low tide.
  11. The life cells in the boat are there for your safety and are attached with 30m of rope to throw in the case of a passenger falling overboard. The life cell is designed to support up to 4 people and has 4 personal lanyards inside. Also inside are flares (2 red and 2 orange), v sheets, signalling mirror, torch and a self-igniting light. Safety equipment is to be used in emergency only, improper use may result in replacement cost at skipper's expense.
  12. Help keep our waterways clean by keeping all rubbish secure in vessel to be dumped in bins provided at the hut. In the case of any oil and fuel spills, contact your host immediately.
  13. Do not walk down the rock wall out front of the hut as these rocks can be loose and have exposed oysters at low tide. If you need something from the hut whilst already out in the boat, contact your host to organise this.
  14. Before use of boat skipper and all passengers must do a safety induction and inspection of the boat to become familiar with all features and safety equipment.
  15. In the case of any incident/problems immediately call your host on channel 77 on your VHF radio or cellphone on 0456224269/0433400590.
